Have one of our self harm resources? Tell us what you think…

As many of you are aware, Harmless sells a variety of resources such as a DVD, workbook, book and other helpful products that help promote recovery and self belief to people who self harm and to enhance understanding for those who support them. The money we raise also goes directly towards helping us continue delivering our vital services .

Our new website shop allows those who own our resources to review them and let others know about their experiences of using the product. Currently we have no comments on any of our products and we would really love to hear what you think. You don’t have to have purchased your product via the shop to review a product; if you have any of our resources regardless of where you got them from, you can add a comment.

Please rate our products and consider: How helpful was the product? Did it help with recovery? Did the resource match the description we provide about the product? Was it value for money? Would you recommend the product to anyone else? What would you like to see included in future products?

Our trainers have personal experience of self harm and we use this to enhance the discussion on the day.

Our bookings for training are getting busier and busier, working across sectors to bring help and support around self harm to anywhere in the UK. For more information, please email us here

Self harm commissioning support from NICE

New commissioning guidance from
NICE has been given for self harm. The statements for commissioners has been designed to support the promotion or health outcomes for those that self harm and improve performance against both of the NICE Guidances for self harm.

Harmless hopes that we can be part of the future service provision for self harm and that commissioning pays attention to the real needs of those that self harm- giving them a voice and choice in the services that they access.

A Third of Young People Self Harm

A new survey has revealed that a third of children have attempted or considered suicide before the age of 16. The survey also showed that 29% of young people turn to self harm as a release from emotional stress and 2000 young people struggling with depression have failed to get the support they need.

It is essential that individuals get the correct support to prevent these figures from rising. Harmless works to provide support to young people at their time of need, and preventatively by working with schools and families. The Tomorrow Project is a suicide prevention project that provides help to those most at risk of suicide, and was set up in response to the needs and concerns of a community and has then grown. This project enables us to offer support to those who need it the most, but funding is always tight.

The new findings bring to light the importance of the work Harmless does in helping people affected by self harm and suicide.
